Bio

Clovis gained a diploma in visual communications in 1987. With a desire to pursue the fine arts, he served an apprenticeship helping to assist sculptor (Father) Warren Viscoe on sculptural projects, developing practical wood working techniques and concepts to assist his own fine arts career. Clovis artworks use recycled native timbers that he finely crafts with a meticulous and refined finish. His current use of our treasured ancient (swamp) Kauri imbues the historic spirit of our unique flora and fauna. In the Artists words ‘Our landscape is where the human and natural world connects, where humanities unique stories can be shared with profound and startling results’ These art objects of Clovis culminate with notes of aesthetic grained nuances, providing an intriguing narrative from Aotearoa’s vibrant landscape.
